Hand With Reflecting Sphere

A reflecting globe rests in the artist's hand. In this mirror he can have a much more complete view of his surroundings than by direct observation, for nearly the whole of the area around him - four walls, the floor and ceiling of his room - are compressed, albeit distorted, within this little disc. His head, or to be more precise, the point between his eyes, comes in the absolute centre. The ego is the unshakable core of his world.

A print seen in psychology text books, album covers and various other forms. Hand with Reflecting Sphere is another of Escher's most recognized works. Want to have some fun with your friends, ask them, with which hand is Escher holding there reflecting sphere. Most who are asked get the wrong answer. By the way do you know? Do you remember, which hand Escher drew with and did you know a lithograph is a mirror image of what the artist actually drew. Good-luck!!
